New Hope church is led by Dr. Terry Morgan D.Min who leads his congregation with compassion, and an emphasis on family life, and spiritual formation.

Dr. Terry Morgan is a seasoned pastor and chaplain with over 40 years of experience. He equips individuals and organizations to navigate trauma, grief, and leadership with faith and resilience. ... Dr. Terry Morgan has been a Christian since 1978. He is married, with two adult children, and two grandkids. He is an ordained minister with over 40 years of experience. He has served as a chaplain for law enforcement for 25 years and is currently the Senior Pastor of New Hope Church in Redding, CA. He is also the Senior Chaplain/Executive Director of Gold Country Chaplaincy and Press4hope. Dr. Morgan is a hospice chaplain for Dignity Health and has attained the Master Chaplain Level of the International Conference of Police Chaplains. He is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and has received his Board Certification in Emergency Crisis Response through the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.

Dr. Morgan has extensive training and is a certified trainer for QPR suicide prevention and a provisional trainer for ASIST suicide intervention. He has been a member in good standing with the “Association of the United States Army” (AUSA). Dr. Morgan has sat on several boards representing the Faith-based Community including the boards of the “Campaign for Community Wellness,” and “Advocates for the Mentally Ill Housing”. He is the past President of the Board for the Gold Country Veteran Stand Down. He is a Local Board Member for the Selective Service System Region III.

Dr. Morgan earned both his Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation and Leadership and his Master of Divinity from Epic Bible College and Graduate School, in Sacramento, CA. He also holds an additional master’s degree in ministry in Public Safety from Trinity Biblical University.

He worked with Louisiana Mental Health and the New Orleans Police Dept. immediately following Hurricane Katrina as one of only a handful of law enforcement chaplains chosen to do so. Dr. Morgan has also been selected to work with surviving family members of officers killed in the line of duty during “National Police Week” in Washington D.C.

Dr. Morgan earned both his Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation and Leadership and his Master of Divinity from Epic Bible College and Graduate School, in Sacramento, CA. He also holds an additional master’s degree in ministry in Public Safety from Trinity Biblical University. Dr. Morgan is a professor at Shasta Bible College and Graduate School where he teaches crisis counseling for chaplains.

He has been frequently published in Officer.com magazine on a variety of topics related to law enforcement, and has been featured in “PORAC” magazine and “Extant Magazine”. Dr. Morgan has written numerous articles for several local newspapers, including the Auburn Journal as a guest contributor. He is the author of several books including “The Chaplain’s Role, How Clergy Can Work with Law Enforcement”; “Life Celebrations a Guide for Funeral and Memorial Services”; “What to Do When Grief Kidnaps Your Soul”; “Starting With God”; and most recently, “Resilience: The Principles and Theology of Grit and Grace in Christian Leadership”. His first book “The Chaplain’s Role” was adopted by Liberty University as a textbook for their chaplain course “CHPL 598”.

Dr. Morgan teaches various ministries how to help their own parishioners through critical incidents, crises, moral injury, and traumatic events while exercising good stress management techniques and preventing compassion fatigue or burnout in their ministers.

We place a tremendous value on experiencing the presence of God. Our hearts are open to a touch from the Lord as we worship Him. Encountering God brings the possibility for great change in the life of every believer
